Er nad yw'm cnawd ond gwellt,
A'm hesgyrn ddim ond clai,
Mi ganaf yn y mellt,
Maddeuodd Duw fy mai!
Mae Craig yr oesoedd dan fy nhraed,
A'r mellt yn diffodd
yn y gwaed!
Mae Duw yn noddfa i'r saint,
Yn nghanol 'stormydd blin;
Diogel yw eu braint
Bob tymhor a phob hin:
Ehydd waredigaeth lawn o'r nef
Cyn braidd y llefont arno Ef!
Pe treiglai'r bryniau maith
Yn nghyd i'r dyfnder mawr;
Pe crynai'r ddaear laith,
A siglo
seiliau'r llawr;
Diogel fydd y Saint o hyd
Dan nodded Prynwr
mawr y byd!

Tonau [666688]: gwelir: Mae Duw yn noddfa i'r saint Y nefoedd uwch fy mhen |
Although my flesh is nothing but grass,
And my bones nothing but clay,
I will sing in the lightning,
God forgave my fault!
The Rock of ages is under my feet,
And the lightning extinguishing
in the blood!
God is refuge for the saints,
In the midst of grievous storms;
Safe is their privilege
In every season and every climate:
Full deliverance shall fly from heaven
Before they scarcely cried to Him!
If the vast hills should trundle
Altogether into the great depth;
If the moist earth should tremble,
And shake the
foundations of the ground;
Safe shall be the Saints always
Under the protection of the great
Redeemer of the world!

God is the refuge of His saints, When storms of sharp distress invade; Ere we can offer our complaints, Behold Him present with His aid. Let mountains from their seats be hurled Down to the deep, and buried there; Convulsions shake the solid world: Our faith shall never yield to fear. Loud may the troubled ocean roar; In sacred peace our souls abide; While every nation, every shore, Trembles, and dreads the swelling tide.Isaac Watts 1674-1748 The Psalms of David 1719 |
